On Thursday, March 31, Tatnall baseball traveled to Tower Hill on a warm and windy afternoon to take on the Hillers. Jacob Glazier ‘25 took the mound as the first hurler of the day. He was followed by Tre Marcoz ‘24, Andrew Scott ‘22, and Luke Kain ‘25. The quartet combined to allow only 6 hits, but, unfortunately, those hits were quite timely, and the Hillers converted them into 10 runs. While the Hornets' offense battled gamely, only Scott, Marcoz, and Brody Clayton ‘22 tallied base hits. Final score: Tower Hill 10, Tatnall 0.

The Tatnall Nine concluded their season-opening road trip with a Saturday morning visit to Canby Park to take on the Vikings of St. Elizabeth’s. Another first-inning rally got the Hornets an early lead. Andrew Scott ‘22 doubled in Michael McGinley ‘24, who led off the game with a walk and stolen base. After a hit by Brody Clayton ‘22, Jacob Glazier ‘25 was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Logan Travers’ 23. Travers plated both Scott and Clayton with a hard single to right field. Scott made the lead stand up with another strong pitching performance, scattering 7 hits and striking out 8 in the complete-game victory. The Vikings cut the lead to a single run as the Hornets came to bat in the top of the seventh inning. McGinley led off with a walk and advanced to 3rd base on a single from Scott, his 3rd hit of the game. Tre Marcoz ‘24 provided the insurance run with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt to score McGinley. The bottom of the 7th provided more drama with Scott up against the daily pitch limit. The Vikings led off with a single followed by a 1 out double, but a strong relay from McGinley to 1st baseman Elliot Bishop ‘25 to Clayton erased the lead runner at the plate. With that play occurring on Scott’s 84 pitch of the game, he was permitted to face 1 final batter, who he enticed to offer at a high fastball on a 3-2 count to end the game. Notably, Elijah Halverson-Frazier ‘25 picked up his first varsity hit in the 6th inning of today’s matchup. Final score: Tatnall 4, St. Elizabeth’s 2.

The Hornets opened the home portion of the 2022 campaign on an overcast afternoon against the Quakers of Wilmington Friends. Jacob Glazier ‘25 led off a trio of pitchers, followed by Tre Marcoz ‘24 and Luke Kain ‘25. While Tatnall played a clean game defensively, the Quakers were able to “hit ‘em where they ain’t” and broke the game open with a 7 spot in the 4th inning. Several Hornets made their debuts this afternoon. Justin Marvel ‘24 had his first experience behind the plate, and Jake Austin tallied his first at-bat. Jack Golden ‘24, and Aiden Hunt ‘24 gained some experience in the field. Marcoz, Andrew Scott ‘22,  and Logan Travers ‘23 all recorded hits to aid the Tatnall cause. Final score: Tatnall 0, Wilmington Friends 11.

On Thursday, April 7, the Hornets return the diamond against Brandywine, and Saturday, April 9, against Odessa.
