Create a Legacy with the Red Oak Society
The northern red oak tree located on the Sedgely Lawn is one of the largest in the region, and it represents many of the qualities that make Tatnall special. The tree has endured the test of time. Its longevity, strength, and beauty remain constant. While it may change in appearance with each passing season, children continue to play and learn at the base of its stately trunk. Many of Tatnall's longest-standing traditions take place under the tree's protective branches.
The Red Oak Legacy Society was established to recognize those who secure The Tatnall School's future by creating a planned gift or including Tatnall as a charitable recipient in their will.
Bequests and planned gifts are the seeds that will enable Tatnall to grow and flourish in the future. The Red Oak Legacy Society allows donors to be honored in their lifetime and inspires others to make similar plans. Gifts are invested in The Tatnall School's endowment fund and help supplement the school's annual budget. Funds may also be directed to perpetuate a specific aspect of the Tatnall experience.
Making your bequest can be as easy as using this language in your will:
I give, devise, and bequeath to The Tatnall School, a nonprofit corporation located in Wilmington, Delaware, the sum of $__________ (or _____% of the residual of my estate).
Tatnall now accepts several types of planned gifts. Please contact our office at (302) 892-4335 or [email protected] for more information on any of these instruments.
Life Income Gifts
Did you know that charitable gifts can be structured to provide you (and/or your designated beneficiaries) with an income for life? Such Life Income Gifts provide donors with a current charitable income tax deduction, the security of a lifetime income, and the knowledge that their gift will provide for the future of Tatnall. There are two primary methods to structure Life Income Gifts: Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts.
To learn more about the win-win benefits of Charitable Annuities and/or Charitable Remainder Trusts, please contact Patrick Manahan at [email protected] or (302) 892-4333.
Testamentary Gifts
Many donors may choose to make a planned gift to Tatnall by including the school in their will, a revocable trust, a retirement plan, a life insurance policy, or in their estate plan. A planned gift may provide philanthropic planning opportunities as well as provide possible income tax and estate tax savings. Did you know that you can designate Tatnall as a beneficiary of your life insurance policy or your IRA?
Charitable Lead Trusts
A Charitable Lead Trust may be structured to provide Tatnall with a stream of current income and pass assets to a donor's family – usually children and grandchildren – at a significantly reduced gift and estate tax cost. A charitable lead trust is a powerful family wealth transfer planning technique that can also be a source of tremendous support to Tatnall.
