On Wednesday, both the Boys and Girls Swim Teams had a great meet against Sanford. Despite the hot temperature of the pool, the Hornet swimmers swam some of their best races all season. They are peaking right as we are about to enter the championship portion of our season.

On the Boys side, Senior Briggs Light and 8th Grader Blake Erkenbrecher got the Hornets off to a great start by finishing 1 - 2 in the 200 Free. Sophomore Niles Commodore (100 Fly) and Freshman Ryan Christopher (100 Free) also had individual victories. All four of these swimmers then combined to win the 200 Free Relay. Commodore added a 2nd place finish in the 200 IM, while Christopher took 2nd in the 50 Free. Senior Javier Cruz-Mendoza joined Erkenbrecher, Light, and Christopher to place 2nd in the 400 Free Relay.

Freshman Stella Petersen led the way for the Girls, winning both the 200 Free and 100 Fly. Alicia Lambe placed 2nd in the 100 Back.

Additionally, the Tatnall Girls Swim Team faced one of the best teams in the state, Ursuline, on Monday, January 31. Unfortunately, the Hornets lost 125-28 but came away with many positives from the meet. 8th-Grader Anna Hammerschmidt won the 100 Breast in a season-best time of 1:15.16. She also took 2nd in the 200 IM. Freshman Stella Petersen placed 2nd in the 100 Fly, touching out one of Ursuline's swimmers by less than half a second. Hammerschmidt and Petersen combined with Senior Alexa Brice and 8th Grader Morgan Noel to take 3rd in the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.

Both teams are working hard in the pool as they prepare for the DISC Championship Meet on Saturday, February 5, at St. Andrew's.
