On Thursday, March 31, the Tatnall Hornets had their second game at Episcopal Academy. It was a hard-fought game for both teams while the winds of March whipped across the field.  The Tatlax team played exceptionally well against a highly talented EA squad, and the score was 6-13 at the half.  After a 7-7 second half, the Hornets lost with a final score of 13-20 and were proud of their consistent efforts and drives from start to finish. Points were scored by Lydia Colasante '23 (6 goals, 2 assists), Teryn Singer '22 (4 goals), Kali Clayton '23 (3 goals, 3 assists), Katrina Cattermole '22 (1 assist), and Devon Chipman '24 had 9 saves in goal.  The defense held strong, with Mia Conkey '22 and Kate McConnel '23 holding down the crease rolls, while Paige Hiller '25 and Tessa Colasante '25 were defensive forces against the EA attack.  After the final whistle, the "Rockmysox game socks" were given to Lydia Colasante for her impressive goals, endless hustle, and mental toughness after the final whistle.  The team then drove quickly and carefully to Tower Hill to support the boy’s lacrosse team in its conference game.

Following this tough loss, Saturday, April 2, the Tatlax squad had its home-opener and downed the Ursuline Raiders 16-7.  It was a slow and steady start with a score of 2-2 in the first few minutes.  But the Hornets soon found their footing, worked their systems and took over to bring the score to 10-4 at the half.  With seven different scorers and four different assisters, the Tatnall team couldn't be stopped. Points were earned by Lydia Colasante '23 (5 goals, 4 assists), Kali Clayton '23 (4 goals, 2 assists), Teryn Singer '22 (2 goals), Avery Brumfield '23 (2 goals, 1 assist), Ivy Qualls '24 (2 goals), Katrina Clayton '22 (1 goal), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (1 assist), and Devon Chipman '24 had 7 saves in goal.  The big highlight of the game was Teryn Singer's 200th goal, which is a fantastic accomplishment for a player who lost a season due to COVID.  The "Rockmysox game socks" were given to Mia Conkey '22 for her level-headedness on the crease, her strong transition up the field in the second half, and her all-around extraordinary defensive skills.

Additionally, the Tatnall JV girls lacrosse team had their first game against Ursuline on Saturday.  The team worked well together and played hard throughout the game, ending with a 9-6 victory over the Raiders. The Hornets were led by Kate O’Neal ’24, who had a fantastic game with 6 goals and two assists, earning the “Rockmysocks game socks” for her efforts. Also scoring for the Hornets was Rachael Whitehead ’23 with one goal and one assist, while Grace Willard ’25 and Svava Korengel ’23 added a goal each.  Defensively, the team was led by Kathryn Wilkinson ’25, Molly Morrison ’22, Bebe Carter ’22, and Abby Trice ’24, who made her goaltending debut with 5 saves.

On Tuesday, April 5, the Tatlax crew had a Conference game against Wilmington Friends.  With 9 different point scorers, the Hornets played a strong game and won 20-5.  Dominating the draw, running circles on attack, and double-teaming on defense, the Tatnall team dominated the field and kept the ball on the attack end for most of the game.  And when it transitioned to the defensive end of the field, the ride on the Quaker players was spot on!  Points were earned by Teryn Singer '22 (7 goals), Lydia Colasante '23 (4 goals, 4 assists), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (2 goals, 1 assist), Kali Clayton '23 (3 goals, 2 assists), Katrina Cattermole '22 (1 goal), Avery Brumfield '23 (1 goal, 1 assist), Ava Mitchell '24 (1 goal), Paige Hiller '25 (1 goal), and Tessa Colasante '25 (1 assist).  Devon Chipman '24 had two saves in goal, and the "Rockmysox game socks" were given to Teryn Singer for being a consistent scoring threat and winning so many draws.  The Hornets will continue its season (currently 3-1) at home against Padua on Thursday, April 7.
