What a week for Girls Lacrosse!

The Tatnall Hornets bested Sanford on Thursday, May 5, 20 to 8.  Playing 7v7 for the entirety of the game due to low Warrior numbers, the Tatnall team was broken into rotating groups of players to face its conference foe.  Plays were run smoothly, the press was evident all over the field, and there was no question about who was in control of the game.  With confidence, patience, and selflessness, the Hornets added a win to its record. It was a complete team victory impacted by every player.  Ten different team members scored goals: Lydia Colasante '23 (4), Teryn Singer '22 (3), Ivy Qualls '24 (3), Katrina Cattermole '22 (2),  Kali Clayton '23 (2), Paige Hiller '25 (2), Avery Brumfield '23, Charlotte Wilkinson '25, Tessa Colasante '25, and Ava Mitchell '24, and assist were added by eight: Kali Clayton '23 (3), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (3), Katrina Cattermole '22 (3), Teryn Singer '22 (2), Lydia Colasante '23 (2), Ivy Qualls '24 (2), Svava Korengel '23, and Paige Hiller '25.  The "Tatlax Rox my Sox" game socks were awarded to Molly Morrison '22 for her hustle, ground ball pick-ups, and strong defense.

On a rainy, cold, windy, and ever-miserable Saturday, the Tatlax crew made the most of the weather and beat Archmere 19-2.  While the score was tied 2-2 in the first five minutes of the game, the Hornets quickly found their momentum, and the Auks didn't score again.  It was a physical game, and the Tatnall players adjusted well to the pressure.  They maintained composure from start to finish, celebrated one another, and worked as a well-oiled machine.  There were fancy goals, impressive clears, successful plays, and strong double-teams.  Goals were scored by Lydia Colasante '23 (9), Teryn Singer '22 (3), Katrina Cattermole '22 (3), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (2), Kate O'Neal '25, and Avery Brumfield '23.  Assists were tallied by Wilkinson (3), L. Colasante (3), and Singer (2).  Devon Chipman '24 had six saves in goal and anchored the defense with confidence and poise.  Shout out to Ivy Qualls for bouncing right back up after being repeatedly knocked down, and to Tessa Colasante '25, Paige Hiller '25, Kate McConnel '23, Mia Conkey '22, Olivia Carpenter '22, and Rachael Whitehead '23 for their solid defense and for keeping the Archmere team in check so effectively.  Game socks were awarded to Charlotte Wilkinson for a sick behind-the-back goal that changed the game's momentum and for her feisty and relentless style of play.  As we've said all season, this team is fun to watch!

Following this win, on a beautiful Tuesday evening with the sun setting on the field, the Tatlax team went to Sanford for another 7v7 game.  Again, the squad played with rotating groups, and again, they were victorious.  With a score of 26-14, there were many goals for the Hornets and the Warriors.  For those who know the sport of lacrosse, many goals can make for a long game.  Still, the team played well, had fun, and worked together to make the most of a different kind of conference game.  Eleven different players scored goals: Lydia Colasante '23 (5), Kate O'Neal '24 (4), Teryn Singer '22 (3), Katrina Cattermole '22 (3), Avery Brumfield '23 (2), Kali Clayton '23 (2), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (2), Paige Hiller '25 (2), Tessa Colasante '25, Grace Willard '25, and Ivy Qualls '24.  Assists were added by eight: T. Colasante (4), L. Colasante (2), C. Wilkinson (2), Qualls (2), Singer (2), Cattermole, Clayton, and Brumfield.  Game socks were awarded to Tessa Colasante for her hustle up and down the field and for her consistency in the midfield.  Tessa was also our lead assist-giver in a game where assists were preferred to driving to the cage.  Way to go, Tessa!

Tatlax will host Sussex Academy on Friday for their final regular-season game and their senior night!
