The Hornets swam the best they have all season at the DISC Championship Meet this past Saturday, February 5, at St. Andrew's. Against a tough field, many Tatnall swimmers finished in the top 6 to score points for our team.

The Boys team was led by Sophomore Niles Commodore, who took 2nd in both the 100 Fly and 100 Breast. 8th Grader Blake Erkenbrecher placed 5th in both the 200 Free and 500 Free. Senior Briggs Light took 6th in the 500 Free, and Freshman Ryan Christopher finished 6th in the 100 Free. Those four Hornets combined to take 2nd in the 400 Free Relay and 4th in the 200 Free Relay. 8th Grader Mason Kohl, 8th Grader Jacob Politis, Senior Javier Cruz-Mendoza, and Junior Aiden Huber teamed up to take 5th in the 200 Medley Relay.

Freshman Stella Petersen and 8th Grader Anna Hammerschmidt led the way for the Girls. Petersen took 4th in the 200 Free and 6th in the 100 Fly. Hammerschmidt placed 4th in the 50 Free and 2nd in the 100 Breast. They also teamed up with Senior Alicia Lambe and 8th Grader Morgan Noel to finish 4th in the 200 Medley Relay and 5th in the 400 Free Relay.

The Hornets were dominant in the pool Wednesday night against AI, winning their first dual meet of the season for both the Boys and Girls Teams.

The Boys team swept the meet and won every event. Senior Briggs Light (200 Free; 100 Fly), Sophomore Niles Commodore (200 IM; 100 Free), Freshman Ryan Christopher (50 Free), 8th Grader Blake Erkenbrecher (500 Free), 8th Grader Mason Kohl (100 Back), and 8th Grader Jacob Politis (100 Breast) all won individual events. Senior Javier Cruz-Mendoza, Kohl, Politis, and Christopher teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay. Christopher, Light, Erkenbrecher, and Commodore joined forces to win both the 200 Free Relay and the 400 Free Relay.

The Girls was equally successful, winning 8 out of 11 events. Senior Alicia Lambe (200 Free; 100 Back), Freshman Stella Petersen (100 Free; 100 Breast), and 8th Grader Anna Hammerschmidt (200 IM; 100 Fly) each won both of their individual events. 8th Grader Morgan Noel added two 2nd place finishes in the 50 Free and 500 Free. Those four Hornets also teamed up to win the 200 Medley Relay and the 200 Free Relay.
