On Wednesday, February 2, the indoor track team continued their impressive season with more great performances at St. Mark’s High School last Wednesday afternoon.

The girl’s 4x800 relay composed of Carlita Kaliher ‘24, Malana Neal ’24, Delaney Campanelli ‘22, and Mikayla Romeo ’23 solidified a state’s qualifying spot, running 10:13.

Teddy Davey ‘25, Wyatt Leary ‘23, Manvir Syan ‘22, and Gabe Stryker ‘24 followed suit with their performance in the 4x200 relay.

The team set an abundance of new personal best performances in the open events.

Katrina Endres ‘24 dropped another 5-seconds from her previous best 1600m, running 5:20.1. This performance sets her up well going into the DIAA State Meet on February 19. Delaney Campanelli ‘22 recorded a new personal best of 64.1 in the 400m. Freshmen Teddy Davey and Nikolai Latina joined the PR train, running 5:13 and 5:16 respectively in the 1600m The boys shot-put trio of Josh Boothe, Justin Smith, and Jonah Thomas all threw close to their personal best marks, led by Boothe’s throw of 39-0 Will Peyton ‘24 won his heats of the 200m and 55m dash.

On Monday, February 7, Tatnall Boys and Girls Winter Track teams traveled to the New York City Armory to compete in the popular Varsity Classic. This event included top competition from 90 high schools from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.

The meet began with the girls 3200 meters where Carlita Kaliher ’24 had the race of her life, placing 5th overall with a new lifetime personal best performance of 11:27.10. She later returned to run her lifetime best in the 1600 in 5:27.26. Lexi Tarlue ’24 dropped more time from her 55-meter hurdle race and placed 5th in the final with a lifetime best of 9.15 seconds. Arianna Montgomery ’26 and Kiara Davis ’26 continue to impress the crowd with their long jump results. Arianna placed 2nd in the finals with a jump of 17’9” while Kiara was 3rd in 17’8” In addition, Montgomery placed 11th in the 55-meter dash in 7.50. As seen below, the number of season-best performances was very high, indicating the team is moving in the right direction.

Our boys had an outstanding meet with as many season and lifetime bests as our girls!

Nicolas Pizarro ’22 pushed the pace in the 3200-meter championship section, placing 2nd overall in an indoor best of 9:21.99 Brothers Ben Pizarro ’25 and Sebastian Pizarro ’22 also had break-though nights in the 1600 meters recording lifetime bests of 4:46.53 and 4:36.28 respectively Manvir Syan ’22 blazed around the oval in a personal best time of 24.03 in the 200m.

It was an extremely successful night at the Armory Congratulations to all of our athletes!
