On Saturday, March 26, the Hornet Nine opened their season by traveling to Delcastle Technical High School for a morning tilt against the Cougars. Capitan Andrew Scott ’22 took the mound for Tatnall and delivered a dominating performance striking out 12 batters in 6 innings. Offensively, the Hornets jumped out to an early lead scoring three times in each of the first two innings. Using an aggressive approach at the plate and on the basepaths, Tatnall forced several defensive miscues. The early outburst was punctuated by a long double in the left-center field gap by Michael McGinley ’24. Delcastle had scratched out a couple of runs to close the gap to 7-2 entering the 7th inning when the Hornets erupted for a seven-spot to put the game out of reach. Jacob Glazier ’25 started the inning with a single up the middle. Jimmy Catalano ’24 and Elliot Bishop ’25 kept the rally going with their first hits in a Tatnall uniform. Luke Kain ’25 plated a run with a double (his second hit of the game), and Tre’ Marcoz ’24 and Glazier drove in two with their second hits later in the inning. Glazier closed out the game on the mound sending the Hornet faithful home happy after braving the cold weather this morning.

The Hornets will look to continue their dominant performance as they face Tower Hill today, March 31, and St. Elizabeth’s on Saturday, April 2.
