What a week for Girls Lacrosse!

The Tatnall Hornets played a terrific game against St. Andrew's last Thursday, April 28.  With a final score of 16-4, the entire Tatlax team took part in the win.  Goals were scored by Teryn Singer '22 (3), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (2), Kali Clayton '23 (2), Lydia Colasante '23 (2), Katrina Cattermole '22 (2); Ivy Qualls '24 (2); Ava Mitchell '24 (2), and Paige Hiller '24.  Assists were added by Wilkinson (3), Singer, Clayton, and Rachael Whitehead '23.  Devon Chipman '24 had 12 saves in goal, and Abby Trice '24 added a save, as well.  From dominating the draw to pressuring all over the field, the Hornets ruled the game and had fun.  The "Tatlax Rox my Sox" game socks were awarded to Rachael Whitehead who played defense, took the draw, had an assist, and basically did whatever was asked of her throughout the game.

On Tuesday, May 3, the Tatnall team traveled to Charter School of Wilmington, and the Force was no match for the Hornets.  Winning 18-4, the team played well together, won all but one draw, and worked the systems well.  You know what they say... "Win the draw, rule the world!"  Goals were scored by Lydia Colasante '22 (5), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (4), Ivy Qualls '24 (2), Katrina Cattermole '22 (2), Teryn Singer '22 (2), Kali Clayton '23 (2), and Paige Hiller '25.  Assists were added by Clayton (5), Singer (2), Brumfield, and Wilkinson.  The defense didn't have a ton of action, but it held down the fort when the ball came down the field.  Devon Chipman '24 had three saves in goal, and the defensive pressure up and down the field was impressive.  The "Tatlax Rox my Sox" game socks were given to Kali Clayton for her assists, for helping to dominate the draw, and for her energy up and down the field.

Additionally, the  JV Tatlax team was back in action against the Charter School of Wilmington.  The decisive win was a full team effort with the whole team hustling up and down the field--great passing, consistent draw controls, and seven assisted goals. The team was led by Ava Mitchell ‘24 who earned the “Tatlax Rox my Sox” game socks for her five goals and one assist and general leadership for the offense. Grace Willard ‘25 and Kathryn Wilkinson ‘25 added two goals each.  Kendal Andress ‘23 had one goal and three assists, Carolyn Walker ‘25 had one goal and Athena Krikelis ‘25 had three assists. Goalie Abby Trice ‘24 had three saves to add to the Hornets' win.

The Hornets piled in the vans again on Wednesday, May 4,  to meet up with the Patriots at Newark Charter.  Winning 22-4, Tatnall dominated from start to finish, worked plays, pressured all over the field, and easily made the transition from turf to grass.  Ground ball pick-ups looked good, defensive double-teams were tight, and there was a lot to like in the full-team effort.  Goals were scored by Lydia Colasante '23 (5), Ivy Qualls '24 (4), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (4), Teryn Singer '22 (3), Avery Brumfield '23 (2), Kali Clayton '23, Kate O'Neal '24, Tessa Colasante '25, and Katrina Cattermole '22.  Assists were added by Clayton (3), Colasante (2), Singer (2), Qualls, and Wilkinson.  Devon Chipman '24 had three saves in goal.  The "Tatlax Rocks my Sox" game socks were awarded to Katrina Cattermole for her speed and cat-like reflexes that were on point!

The JV team also had another great outing against Newark Charter on Wednesday.  The team worked so well together throughout the game with great passing and strong team defense. With no subs, numerous players took turns in the midfield and everyone stepped up their play all over the field.  The Hornet’s offense was led by Ava Mitchell ‘24 with four goals and three assists. Other goals were scored by Svava Korengal ‘23 (3), Grace Willard ‘25 (3), Bebe Carter ‘22 (1), Athena Krikelis ‘24, and Olivia Perrin ‘23.  Assists were added by Krikelis (3), Korengal (2), and Perrin.  Molly Morrison ‘22 and Bebe Carter ‘22 led the defense along with goalie Abby Trice ‘24 who had three saves.  The “Tatlax Rox my Sox” game socks went to Bebe Carter for not only scoring a goal but playing strong defense all game with numerous caused turnovers, ground balls, and great clears up the field.

With a current record of 10-1, the Hornets will play Sanford at home on Thursday, May 5, and Archmere away on Saturday, May 7.
