What a week for Girls Lacrosse!

On Thursday, April 21, the JV team took on Sanford in a small-sided game. The team adjusted well to a 6v6 format which meant every player was integral to every play of the game.  Four different Hornets scored: Ava Mitchell ‘24 and Svava Korengel ‘24 had two goals each, Olivia Perrin ‘23 had one goal and one assist, Kathryn Wilkinson ‘25 and Kendal Andress ‘23 added an assist each.  Goalie Abby Trice ‘24 added to the win with three saves. The “Tatlax Rox my Sox” game socks went to Kendal Andress ‘23 who led the team on defense with numerous caused turnovers, ground ball pick-ups, and clears through the midfield.

On Monday, April 25, the Varsity Tatlax crew beat the Quakers with a score of 21-5.  The start of the game was a bit slow, but the Hornets picked up the pace quickly and led 14-3 at the half.  The "Tatlax Rox My Sox" game socks were awarded to Ivy Qualls '24 for her consistency on attack and easily changing to midfield towards the end of the game, securing many draws for our team.  Between the draw that was dominated by our midfield tower (Teryn Singer '22) and twin turbos (Katrina Cattermole '22 and Kali Clayton '23) and Devon Chipman '24 who anchored the defense and tallied an impressive 13 saves in goal, the Friends team was no match for Tatnall.  The defense consistently transitioned the ball to the attack end of the field, and when the offense took over, there was no question about who was in charge.  Goals were scored by Lydia Colasante '23 (6), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (4), Ivy Qualls '24 (4), Kali Clayton '23 (3), Teryn Singer '22 (2), Kate O'Neal '24, and Rachael Whitehead '23.  Assists were added by Clayton (3), O'Neal, Colasante, and Qualls.

Following this win, the Tatlax team had a spring in its step on Wednesday, April 27, when they beat Padua 17-4. It was a complete team effort, as the Hornets pressured the Pandas on all ends of the field.  Goals were spread across nine different players--Lydia Colasante '23 (4), Teryn Singer '22 (3), Charlotte Wilkinson '25 (4), Katrina Cattermole '22, Avery Brumfield '23, Kali Clayton '23, Kate O'Neal '24, Ivy Qualls '24, and Svava Korengel '23, and assists were added by seven--Paige Hiller '25 (2), Clayton (2), L. Colasante, Qualls, Cattermole, Tessa Colasante '25 (2), and Grace Willard '25.  The midfield team dominated the draw, and Devon Chipman '24 had nine saves in goal.  The gameday "Tatlax Rox my Sox" socks were awarded to Kate McConnel '23 for her often perfectly-timed slides to the ball--either to slow the fast break or to get to the double.  Kate also forced a Panda turnover as her final play on the field.  Way to go, Kate!!
